Well, Dustin, Rosie and I are off! I can’t believe we are finally leaving Rexburg, Idaho after 6 years and starting a new adventure! We are on our way to California! In celebration of our huge exodus, on of my best blogging friends is taking over Life with Rosie today to share some tips on how to make long trips fun!
Hey y’all! I’m Ashley from American Honey. I am so happy that Chelsie and I have become friends and can’t explain how honored I feel to be taking over Life of Rosie while Chelsie is on this awesome trip!
Speaking of trips, today I want to share what I do while I’m on long trips. I’ve become quite accustom to spending 5+ hours in a car/train while going to visit my fiance. And I’m actually preparing for a trip to Kansas in mid-May. So, whether you are shuffling through airports or spending long amounts of time in the car, you can make your trip fun! And I’m about to show you how!
1. Playlist. I feel like this is the obvious answer. Have some down time? Put in your headphones and jam out. Well it’s the same for a trip on a plane or in a car. One of my favorite playlists to jam to is Songs To Sing in the Car on Spotify. Just be careful with this playlist. You don’t want to embarrass yourself in front of the stranger you will be sitting next to for the next couple of hours!
2. Book/Audio Book. Okay, so you listened to a playlist for a while but that got boring fast. You really need something to occupy your mind. Read a book, or if you get motion sick, listen to an audio book. There so many great books that you can find in paperback, e-reader or even audio book form. Check to see if your local library offers digital loans or if not pick up the physical version.
3. Games. You can always play games on your phone. Angry birds, candy crush and others are always fun. But they can get kind of old fast (especially if you run out of lives) So, have some other games planned. This won’t work so well in a plane, but if you are traveling by car, there are so many fun games you can play. One of my favorites is trying to find a license plate from all 50 states and the Canadian provinces. (I think I have gotten up to 20 states before!) Another game I want to try is called Cows. Every time you pass a cow pasture on your side of the road try to count as many cows as you can. Remember that number and keep adding up your cows. BUT if you pass a graveyard, you’ve just lost all your cows. Start counting again from 0. See how many cows you end up with by the time you get to your destination.
Hopefully you won’t have exhausted all three of these time occupiers before you arrive at your destination. If so, repeat! Don’t forget your pillow and blanket. And most importantly have a nice and safe trip!
Don’t forget to take a trip over to American Honey!
