Favorite Fall Braid & Hair Products

Oh October, I think I love you most of all. I know I said that about September, but now that October is here, I truly think itās my favorite month. The leaves have all turned, the weather is warm and gentle and my closet is full of sweaters and leggings. The one downside to the cooler weather? The air starts drying out and along with dry lips and a dry nose, my hair gets dry too. Itās not fun.
Since we left the Deep South, my hair has been on the struggle train. Itās been frizzy, brittle and so dull. I knew that I needed to change my hair products out and use strong moisturizing regimen, but moving across the country is expensive, so I really wanted something that wouldnāt break the bank. So, while Dustin and I were at Walmart a couple weeks ago buying ketchup, I picked up the new 2016 Suave Coconut Milk Infusion line to try out. Suave hair products have never let me down in the past and they have always worked as well as luxury brands that I have splurged on in the past.
The Coconut Milk Infusion line was exactly what I was looking for. It comes with a shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner treatment to use 2-3 times throughout the week. Coconut Milk is known for its nourishing benefits and this new line drenches even the driest strands with moisture, which was just what my hair needed.
I can honestly say that these products have not let me down. The Suave shampoo and conditioner are gentle enough for my colored hair but leaves it touchably soft. It has reduced my frizz and breakage significantly after just a couple weeks. My favorite part of this line is the Intense Moisturizing Mask; I can feel the difference the second I rinse my hair out.
Since switching out my hair care line to the Suave line, my hair has been so much softer and easier to manage! And, that means Iāve been able to style my hair in my favorite fall braid because my hair is actually cooperating. So, I thought I would share my favorite fall braid tutorial with you today!
I first start by curling my hair (though you can wear this braid with straight hair; I just find that the curls give my hair extra grip and hold) I used my 25mm curling wand and try to curl the top of my hair in as tight of curls as possible to help build volume.
Next, I part my hair and do a Dutch braid (inside out French braid) along the crown on my head. When it gets to the outer corner of my eye, I stop adding hair from the bottom of the braid so that I can keep some hair framing my face.
After I finish the braid, I chunk it up. I do this by pulling the braid slowly out and loosening it up. I find that the easiest way to do this is to pull the outer sides out first and work your way in. This makes the braid look 10X thicker and it adds volume. I pin the braid in the back of my head and pull some of the curls over to cover the pins and ta-da! Thick fall braid ready to go!
