Stitch Fix Unboxing | Cruise Edition
It’s been a hot second since we’ve unboxed a Stitch Fix and I figured there was no better way to kick of a Monday than showing my most recent fix. Yes, I’m still getting them (I have a year style pass) and yes, I’m still on the fence about how I feel about them (even though I’ve been getting them for almost 5 years.) My last few fixes have not been very amazing, to be honest, and I haven’t kept a full fix since my magical fall box two years ago! But, I really like having the style pass because I don’t have to pay the $20.00 fee every time I want a box and they are fun to have for when I’m looking for unique pieces for different events or trips. For example, Dustin & I are getting ready to go on a cruise in a few weeks and I decided to ask for a cruise-themed Stitch Fix because I wasn’t having much luck finding tropical pieces to bring with me.
If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix, here’s a quick rundown on how it works. StitchFix is a clothing subscription service, where you have a personal stylist that sends you 5 items of clothing and accessories to try on in the comfort of your own home. You pay a $20 dollar styling fee and can write a note with any special requests for specific clothing you may be looking for or occasions you need to be dressed for. You have three days to try on the pieces in the comfort of your home and then you keep what you want and mail back everything else in a prepaid envelope! You also get to use the $20.00 styling fee as a credit towards anything you want to keep. To check out Stitch Fix, click here.
Without further ado, here’s my cruise edition Stitch Fix:
LUQ – Rhee Tie Front Tie Top – $38.00 – I really liked the minor cropped feel to this top, along with the front tie detail. I also love navy in the summer because it looks so sharp and fresh with a pair of white denim. However, I wasn’t a fan of the floral print on this, because large floral feels a bit outdated. I prefer a delicate floral print or a more vintage floral print these days. I also have a navy floral top that’s very similar, so I didn’t feel the need to add another to my collection. Status: Returned.
41 Hawthorn Breyson Pleated Detail Blouse – $54.00 – In theory, this top is great, but it definitely didn’t execute the way my stylist probably imagined it to. First of all, it’s way too sheer and the armholes are really low, basically making undergarments impossible to wear with this top. Second of all, the neckline felt a little to high and stiff on my collar bone. If this material was a bit more opaque, it would have been a contender but the sheerness of it made it a major no-no. Status: Returned
Margaret M Lea Printer Short – $68.00 -I was most excited about these printed shorts when I pulled them out of the box because they felt VERY tropical and cruise worthy and I didn’t have anything like them in my closet. I really liked the print (it was more navy than black) but the fit was pretty off. I’m in the stage of life where I prefer high-waisted everything and these hit me weird. It was like they were trying to be high-waisted but gave up half-way there. The legs of these shorts were also really big and the crotch hung low so I could feel the material bunching up between my legs. These were the most expensive piece in my fix and since the fit was so off, definitely not worth it. I wish they fit better, though, because I did like the print and design concept behind them! Status: Returned
French Grey Evalynn Brushed Knit Dress – I wasn’t crazy about another floral print item, but I was crazy about the vibrant and bold red that this dress came in. I also really liked the material and cut – it feels very soft and it hit me perfectly in the waist, creating a flattering silhouette. This dress is a lot shorter than I typically wear, but I thought it would be the perfect dress to throw on over a bathing suit to grab lunch on the ship! I also love that the colors are patriotic and think this dress pairs perfectly with a denim jacket, so it’s an overall great summertime dress to wear when going to the lake or city pool! Status: Kept
Gorjana Power Gemstone Studs – $38.00 – While I loved the texture and color of these earrings, I wasn’t in NEED of them and they didn’t feel different or unique enough for the price. Status: Returned
While this fix has some potential for my cruise, I was pretty bummed out that the shorts were a no-go based on fit and that the accessory didn’t really feel tropical at all. I’m also realllly over the big floral prints. I do think the dress was a winner, especially for the situations and occasions I plan on wearing it for, but this wasn’t a 10/10 fix. I was able to request another fix right before I leave for the cruise and I asked for a romper and for feminine tropical pieces. I also asked for a different stylist to see how these two fixes compare. I’ll keep you posted!
