I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME SO MUCH! And, if it was socially acceptable, my tree would be up for at least 3 months and Christmas music would be played year round. Alas, it is not, so my Christmas-loving soul must squeeze in all the Christmas themed things in two months.
I’ve had a couple people ask me what I would recommend in the makeup world for gifts, so I decided this would be the perfect time to put together a gift guide for the makeup lover. And, because we all love making our money stretch during the Holiday season, this guide is specifically drugstore makeup (or drugstore prices), and most of these babies are perfect for stocking stuffers for your friends, family OR for you. (wink, wink)
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow - This is one of the only eyeshadows from the drugstore that I think is worth buying; most drugstore eyeshadows are chalky and blend out terrible (looking at you, Maybelline Nudes). But, the Infallible shadows are FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! They are so creamy, pigmented and when applied with a damp brush, look so bold and metallic. Shades to check out: Amber Rush, Iced Latte, Glistening Garnette & Smoldering Plumb.
NYX High Definition Blush - I really like this blush from NYX and use several colors on a consistent basis. It is pretty pigmented and has great stay power without being too patchy! I use Taupe to contour with and Amber is a perfect shade for the fall/winter time!
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara - This is one of my favorite mascaras from the drugstore! It does a great job separating lashes and building volume without getting clumpy and the Carbon Black shade is perfect for blending lashes into falsies!
e.l.f. Matte Lip - I’ve talked about how utterly amazing this lip product is before, but I feel the need to say it again: THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! Any girl who loves lipstick will love this matte lip from e.l.f. The colors are so pigmented but go on so creamy and last for a long time. Matte shades are usually super drying, but this has a nice moisturizing feel to it. Seriously; EVERY GIRL should own at least three of these! Shades to check out: Wine, Praline & Tea Rose
Colour Pop Creme Gel Pots/Liners - Okay, so technically you can’t buy these from the drugstore, but the price is right on point. These gel pots/liners from Colour Pop are OTHER worldly! I love them both, but the liners have a tiny bit of an edge about the pots. The liners are so pigmented, go on so smoothly and they STAY ALL DAY LONG! I have been wearing Maybe (a bright green) in my waterline and it lasts from 9 AM to 10 PM and that is really impressive for a liner in the waterline! I will be ordering these in every shade in the next month!
Maybelline Creamy Matte Lip Color - Okay, I couldn’t resist putting another option for matte lips on here. Next to the e.l.f. matte lippies, the Maybelline ones are amazing! These are creamy, non-drying and very pigmented. Touch of Spice is my ALL time favorite shade for this time of year and I love that it lasts for a long time without getting cracky or cakey! Shades to Check Out: Touch of Spice and Daringly Nude
Milani Baked Blush - You all know of my love for Milani products by now (I did a holiday look with just products from that line a couple weeks ago) and I cannot lie: Milani Baked Blushes are some of the best of the best…including high-end options! These blushes apply so nicely on the checks, last all day and give a pretty glow to the skin. Shades to Check Out: Luminoso and Rose D’Oro
Nyx Liquid Lip Suede - Okay, I had to add one more fantastic lip product in this roundup. The NYX Lip Suedes are all the rage right now, and for good reason; it’s a drugstore version of liquid lipsticks. These are not as drying as some liquid lipsticks and have a little more of a tacky feel when dry, but the color and longevity of these are fantastic.
Wet n’ Wild Coloricon Bronzer - I know that it may be easy to completely disregard Wet n’ Wild cosmetics because of how insanely low their prices are; I know I used to. When I see makeup priced so cheaply, I immediately assume that it’s made with crappy ingredients and has the consistency of chalk. However, Wet n’ Wild is an exception to this rule because the price is low and the quality on most of their products is FANTASTIC! I love their eyeshadow trios and their Coloricon Bronzer is awesome. Reserve your Cabana is actually a fantastic shade for highlighting the cheekbones! Definitely a brand to pay attention to, especially with such low prices.
I hope this gift guide for the makeup lover helps anyone out who may be stumped as to what makeup to gift their beauty loving friend. Additionally, I hope it gives YOU a reason to go out and gift yourself something a little extra this year; in the time of giving, remember to spoil yourself a little because you deserve it.
Have you tried any of these products before? What products would you gift your beauty loving friend?
