#47 Checked off-101 in 1001 Update
I know it’s been a while, but with holidays and changing school/work schedules, it’s taken a while to get everything settled down. Now that we are in the new year and Dustin is back into the swing of things with school and I’ve got my work schedule organized, we’re ready to take on 2015!
We started off the new year with a bang-we checked off number 47 on our 101 in 1001 list!
Dustin and I have been talking and planning for months about selling his Civic and upgrading to a small SUV. We’ve spent hours over the last three months researching different car models, specs, reviews, safety features, trunk space, etc. We narrowed down all the options and knew what our number one choice was-but it was proving hard to find that specific model within a price range we were willing to pay. We were thinking we would have to go down to Utah in February to go car shopping as there were more options down there.
Last Monday, Dustin sent me to a link on craigslist to the exact dream model we wanted, 2000 dollars lower than what we were planning on spending! It was a dream come true! We contacted the seller and after getting some more information, jumped on the road and drove two and a half hours to Twin Falls to test drive and buy our new SUV!
We are now the proud owners of a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid that is FULLY loaded (leather heated seats, sunroof, navigation system, 4-wheel drive) Rosie has plenty of room in the back to lay down, stretch out and look out of the window and loves going for rides in the new car!
The best part about this purchase is that we stuck to our budget, spent less then what we had planned and will continue to be debt free! It’s an amazing feeling to keep our spending within our means and not stress out about having to make a car payment. This is a huge accomplishment for us, considered where we were this time last year.
Another number checked off the list and a brand new year to keep working on our goals!
