It's the first Monday of the new year and I don't know about you, but I'm feeling on fire after spending the weekend checking off the rest of my list of things to do to prepare for the new year! My house is clean, laundry has been folded and put away, we've meal planned and prepped and I'm slowly (but surely) getting ahead of myself on blog/business work. I'm feeling all of that motivation that comes with a new year, but I know that in the next couple of months, I'll start to lose some steam and get lazy (and I know I'm not the only one.) So, I'm pulling together a list of motivational quotes to refer to when we're feeling a little stuck or unmotivated to keep . . .
I've got a lot of helpful content lined up for the next couple weeks, so I decided it'd be fun to do a little personal life-update in the form of a currently post. As much as I love putting together lists and writing thorough reviews about makeup and clothes, I also don't want to lose grasp of the fun posts that made blogging enjoyable to start. After all, it’s important to me to share the little things about life because that’s what makes life the most vibrant! It's been a while since I got a Stitch Fix and since my last one was my favorite one of all time, I was excited and felt fairly confident that this one would be awesome, too. Spoiler Alert - this may have been one of my least favorite fixes, ever. I wasn't excited about anything that was sent to me and was a bit confused since my previous fix had been so awesome. If you haven't heard about Stitch Fix, here's how it works: You fill out a style profile on Stitchfix.com and link up a Pinterest board to clothes you like. Hey there, I know, it's been a while. Things have been really crazy since I last wrote, and I finally am ready to come back to HTC and catch you all up on what's been going on. Where I've Been: In the last MONTH the following things have happened: We closed on our house. I've already shared all the crazy details of that journey here, but the short version of it goes a little something like this: -Put offers in on 12 houses, get outbid on them all. -Last offer on last house gets accepted! Hooray -Almost loose out on house 2 times after going under contract. -Have to close on the house and move out of apartment within 3 weeks of going under . . .
Well, it’s been a whirlwind of a week. Dustin and I got pre-approved for a home on Tuesday and immediately jumped into house hunting on Wednesday because we’re kind of in a time crunch since our apartment lease is up on the 21st of March. We’ve looked at 7 homes in the last few days and put an offer in on one, but are currently waiting to hear back from the sellers. On top of the house hunt, Dustin’s parents came to town to visit us this last weekend and I’m working full-time for the next few weeks to cover for another employee. Things don’t look like they are going to quiet down anytime soon, either, because we’ve got 2 weddings (including my sister’s,) a trip to . . .
I feel like I'm a broken record for saying the same thing over and over again, but seriously: things have been so insanely busy since the new year that it's been hard to keep my head on straight. Between my new job, my blog, my photography gig on the side, house hunting (more on this soon,) blogging events and collaborations, and the NFL playoffs, I feel like I'm going a million miles a minute in every direction. I can barely keep my eyes straight and most of the time, I feel like I'm truly the definition of being a "hot mess."I'm not complaining - it has been so good to be busy in this kind of way. I'm not complaining - it has been so good to be busy in this kind . . .
There's been a lot of things happening in the Carr Household over the last month and I wanted to sit down and catch everyone up (well, everyone who cares) about all the changes. It seriously has felt like we've been going over 100 miles per minute since we moved and life is just barely starting to settle down into a new pattern and routine. HTC Personal Happenings: // Dustin and I are out of the Deep South! We moved away from Louisiana at the end of September to Utah and we could not be happier with our choice to come here. Living in Utah was definitely not part of our plan, but every day we're realizing that we love it here more and more. Our new apartment is . . .
It's a freaking beautiful 76 degrees outside today (Monday) with a slight breeze drifting through the windows of my new office. The sun is warm and gentle and the leaves are all igniting into this vibrant yellow and it's fall. It's October. It's perfect. I'm feeling so inspired and so refreshed and am so excited to share this fun style on HTC today. I know it's been quite and sporadic on this space lately, but ever since we left Louisiana, we've been going a million miles a minute. I'll be sharing more on our new lives here in Utah soon, but things are finally, finally slowing down enough for me to brainstorm, to write, and to get back to blogging. So today, I . . .
We did it. We made it. We are finally out of the Deep South. And I know the way I've been talking about this move makes it sound like I really despised my time in Louisiana and I should probably alter that because I didn't totally hate it down there. I actually have very complicated feelings about our time spent there and I'm still trying to sort through all of them. When Dustin decided that he wanted to leave his full-time job with benefits in Arizona to go back to summer sales with ADT, I really struggled. I knew that Dustin was miserable at his job, that he was way overqualified for the kind of work he was doing and not getting paid nearly enough, but wasn't . . .
