Edgy, Girly, In-Between – 3 Easy Outfit Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Well, it’s been a whirlwind of a week. Dustin and I got pre-approved for a home on Tuesday and immediately jumped into house hunting on Wednesday because we’re kind of in a time crunch since our apartment lease is up on the 21st of March. We’ve looked at 7 homes in the last few days and put an offer in on one, but are currently waiting to hear back from the sellers. On top of the house hunt, Dustin’s parents came to town to visit us this last weekend and I’m working full-time for the next few weeks to cover for another employee. Things don’t look like they are going to quiet down anytime soon, either, because we’ve got 2 weddings (including my sister’s,) a trip to Vegas, and a move coming up all between now and the first week of April. So, I’m going to do my best to stay consistent on posting at HTC but it might be a little spotty for the next few weeks. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
I’ve been sitting on this post for a week now, but like I mentioned above, things have been a bit psycho. Still, I wanted to share this even if it’s a little late in the game (as in Valentine’s Day being tomorrow.) But, I’m really excited about this post, too, because this is the first in a new series that I’m introducing to HTC this year!
Like I wrote about a couple weeks ago, blogging has been crucial in my journey to loving myself again. Not only have I found a new confidence to post pictures of myself, but I’ve been able to really discover my own style – which (in case you haven’t noticed) is usually a mix of feminine and edgy pieces. But, I know that sometimes we want to be a bit more girly or a bit more edgy, so that’s how the idea behind “Edgy, Girly, In-Between” was born. So, here are 3 Easy Outfit Ideas for Valentine’s Day:
The Closet:
I love sharing affordable style options and ideas on HTC, because no one has the money to buy new clothes every few days – which is also why you’ll see some of the same pieces being styled in different ways to give you ideas on how to get the most out of your wardrobe! So, I’m going to try my best to use a lot of the same pieces between the three looks so that all outfits are really attainable. So, here’s what I pulled from my closet to create these three looks:
Floral Skirt – $21.00 from Indigo and Sage
Black Criss-Cross Top – $23.99 from Wight Gold
Colored Moto-Leggings (Brick or Coral) – 32.00 from Wight Gold
White Tunic – $27.90 from Nordstrom
Brown Booties – $19.99 from Rue21 (Similar)
Girly Look:
Black Criss-Cross Top + Floral Skirt + Brown Booties
Nothing like a pretty floral print to make you feel super girly, right? I love this skirt from Indigo and Sage because it hugs me in all the right places but is super comfortable because it’s so stretchy. The print and material also does a great job in slimming out my torso without making me feel like I can’t breathe. I loved pairing this skirt with the black criss-cross top because black is slimming and the little criss-cross detail gives the top just a little extra something special and fancy!
Edgy Look
Black Criss-Cross Top + Colored Moto-Leggings (in Brick Red) + Brown Booties
Feeling a bit edgier? Swap out the floral skirt for some colored moto leggings instead! I own two pairs that I got from Wight Gold and will probably buy some more because she has so many color options. These leggings are a great way to add some edge (and color) to any outfit.
I used to struggle trying to figure out how to style my black tops because blue jeans seemed kind of blah to me. These moto leggings come in so many colors and take any black top to the next level. I love these ones in brick red because it’s a great Valentine’s Day color without being too cliche. I decided to accessorize with my super – reflective sunglasses that I grabbed from Amazon for 7 bucks (basically Diff Dupes) and my little red clutch from Gresso Miami!
In-Between Look
White Tunic + Colored Moto-Leggings (in pink) + Brown Booties
Wanting to be a little girly and a little edgy? Keep the moto leggings, but pair them with a flowy tunic instead? If you want to take it to the next level, get your hands on a pair of pink moto leggings (the perfect combo of hard and soft) and rock them!
I snagged two of these tunics from Nordstrom during their anniversary sale and LOVE how comfortable, flattering, and versatile they are. You can dress this top up or down, or pair it with any jacket or cardigan. It also looks great with chunky statement necklaces or delicate pendants. Basically, I’m convinced that every girl needs at least one of these in their closet because of the MANY ways it can be styled (and I’m convinced I might need at least one or two more colors for spring and summer time!)
To give it a little extra flair, I paired this top with my silk heart scarf that I got in my PopSugar MustHave Box last February. And of course, I wore the same pair of brown booties as I did in all other outfits because we’re trying to get the most out of our closet, right?
