HTC Happenings & Updates – October
There’s been a lot of things happening in the Carr Household over the last month and I wanted to sit down and catch everyone up (well, everyone who cares) about all the changes. It seriously has felt like we’ve been going over 100 miles per minute since we moved and life is just barely starting to settle down into a new pattern and routine.
HTC Personal Happenings:
// Dustin and I are out of the Deep South! We moved away from Louisiana at the end of September to Utah and we could not be happier with our choice to come here. Living in Utah was definitely not part of our plan, but every day we’re realizing that we love it here more and more. Our new apartment is in an amazing location, we can see the mountains from our balcony and we’re exactly 20 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City. The people here are so kind and we’re really loving that we’re only 17 minutes away from my sister & brother-in-law and only 3.5 hours away from my other two siblings and their significant others.
// A week after we moved to Utah, we got back in the car with some of our closest friends from the ADT team and drove back down to Arizona to spend a week on Lake Powell, staying on houseboats! The weather was a little cold and miserable the first day, but we lucked out and had gorgeous weather the rest of the week. We got to spend time with some amazing friends, ride jet skis through lake canyons, go fishing, go tubing and wakeskating, and soak in the hot tubs on the top of the house boats every night.
// I celebrated my 10 years cancer free anniversary and it was a lovely day. Dustin made me my favorite breakfast (Heavenly Corn Bread, bacon & eggs) and we watched the Patriots win their game. My sister & brother-in-law came up for dinner and then our friends Kim & Todd came over for dessert. We played one of our favorite card games (BANG!) well into the night. It was a quiet day and just what I needed to help me face forward and not dwell on my survivor’s guilt.
// Here’s some big news: Dustin has accepted a position with Workday in downtown SLC in their Leads Development team! We are so grateful that he was able to secure a position with such a great company so soon after our move. We also love that there is a very distinct career path that he can take through the company and that we can stay put (as in no moves) for a while. We are thrilled!
// We had our family portraits taken last weekend by our very talented and dear friend, Whitney (Whitney Majors Photography.) I got to work with her several times this summer for my blog and was so excited that we could meet up in Utah to get family portraits done. I truly feel like we, as a little family were captured so fully and honestly in these photos and I’m so happy with the way they came out! If you are in the Utah or Idaho area, check out her Facebook page and get a session in!
Hey There, Chelsie Blog Updates
// My biggest update from the last 2 months is that I finally hit 10,000 followers on Instagram! I actually hit 10,000 followers the morning of my 10-year cancer free day! Wow! I can’t believe that I have that many followers on Insta. It is an honor to be able to interact with so many incredible people in the world through that platform and if you choose to follow me, thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to take up space in your feed and to find strength in sharing my story with you!
// Speaking of Instagram, I can’t tell you how fun it has been to see the #myvibrantlife hashtag grow. I love scrolling through it and feeling inspired by everyone’s desire to live a vibrant and full life to go out and do the same. I encourage everyone to use the #myvibrantlife hashtag if you haven’t started using it already. You don’t have to be a blogger to use it, I’d love it if my friends and family used it, too! (cough, cough, looking at you, sisters!)
//I just switched my email service provider from Convertkit to MailerLite and not only am I SO excited about the money I will save, I’m also feeling inspired to start sending emails again. But, if I put the effort into sending emails, I want to make sure they are valuable and not a waste of your time or inbox space. So, if you would be a gem and leave a comment below on the kinds of emails you like to read and the kinds you delete right away, I would be so grateful!
