How I Save Money on Beauty Trends
This post was sponsored by Groupon, all opinions are my own!
I love watching trends come and go in the beauty industry because it’s really exciting to me to see what creative (or weird) things come to light. I mean, who remembers black and white chunky hair (or skunk hair, as I liked to call it.) It was definitely trendy back when I was in middle school and listened to Avril Lavine and if my mother had let me, I would have colored my hair exactly like that.
Thankfully, that trend didn’t stick, but there are plenty of trends in beauty right now that I’m LOVING and either just tried, or want to try in the next few months.
Gel Nails –
To celebrate surviving a crazy summer married as ADT wives, I went out with a couple of the other wives here in Louisiana last week to get a gel manicure. I’ve never had a real, salon Gel mani before and was so excited to get it done. Let me tell you, it has not disappointed. I’m only 4 days in, but I’ve been packing and moving like crazy and I don’t have a single chip.
Ombre/Balayage Hair –
This is also a beauty trend that I’ve been obsessing over for about a year, and after a couple failed attempts, finally got the most beautiful caramel balayage put in mid-July. It’s such a fun hair color but I love that it’s still classy and I love the way it looks when I curl it!
Eyelash Extensions –
This is the next beauty trend I really want to try. My eyelashes grew back in so wonky after chemo and it’s one of the lingering side-effects of cancer that makes me so frustrated. I know it’s such a little thing, but I just get so mad when I try to put on mascara and I’ve got huge gaps in my lashes. I love my falsies, but it would be so nice to have a full, thick set of lashes to wear all the time and to not have to worry about a whole band falling off.
Keeping up with beauty trends can be expensive, though, especially since some trends don’t last very long. That’s why I rely heavily on Groupon to find me amazing deals for all beauty, health and wellness type trends and services I want to try. High quality eyelash extensions alone start at about 120 dollars, and can go up from there and I found an amazing deal at a local salon to get them done for 40. I got my hair cut and colored in AZ right before our cruise for 40 dollars because I found an amazing deal on Groupon (and it would have cost me almost 90 dollars!) Since discovering Groupon at the end of last year, I have not paid the full amount on any beauty or salon service!
I know I’ve been talking about Groupon a lot recently, but I just really can’t believe that so many amazing deals are out there and not many people know about them. I can’t stress it enough: CHECK GROUPON whenever you’re thinking about spending money, whether it’s on a new hair cut or if it’s for an oil change!
