What’s in my Blog Bag?
Okay, I know it’s old news by now, but I quit my job two weeks ago in order to pursue my dream of being a full time blogger. When Dustin and I were talking about making this change, one of his main concerns was that I wouldn’t be able to be as productive by staying home all day to blog. Let’s face it, if Netflix is easily accessible, I will not get anything done.
We decided it would be a good idea if I treated blogging like a full time job by actually getting out of the house every day and going somewhere to work on it. Recently, I’ve been hiding out at the Starbucks cafe in our local Barnes and Nobel every afternoon. I usually get there right after one and stay until 5:30. Mentally and physically, it has helped me so much to know I have someplace to go for my job, even if I am working for myself.
I decided I needed to put together a bag that I could easily walk out of the door with every afternoon on my way to B&N that would have everything I needed to work on my blog without it taking me twenty minutes to gather everything, put it in my bag and then empty it out later that day to lighten it up.
I picked up a structured deep brown tote at Ross for 22 dollars! I love that it stands up on it’s own and doesn’t flop over and ruin what it’s storing.
Macbook Pro-I didn’t realize how dirty it was until I was editing this picture! But I this is my workhorse and I couldn’t get any blogging done without it.
iPhone-For Instagraming and texting Dustin
Wallet-So I can buy myself a giant cookie or lemon bundt cake at Starbucks to munch on
Notebook-I write everything down in this thing, from blog post ideas, rough drafts of blog posts, my monthly In&Out list, blog projects, emails to be sent and to-do lists.
Folders: I keep two folders-one has some spreadsheets I use to keep track of expenses, income, promoting, etc. The other one holds flyers, mailers, and notices from my subscription boxes so I can refer back to them!
A Book: Sometimes my computer dies but I’m not ready to leave! I love having a book with me so I can read for a bit and unwind from staring at my computer before heading out.
Sunglasses: These babies are from Ditto (full review coming soon) and I always keep a pair in my bag so that I can see when driving between B&N and home
Waterbottle: Because I live in California and hydration is important.
I picked up this set of make-up bags at Ross for $10.00 and converted them into storage bags to keep my blog bag organized.
Office Pouch-Holds pens, book marks, paper clips and post-it notes
Look Your Best pouch: Includes mini wet brush, Pixi by Petra eyeshadow, Bait hair perfume, Mary Kay lipstick in Color me Coral, EOS lip balm, CoverGirl Tru Match powder, and a Tide-to-go Stick.
Tech Pouch: Includes an extra phone charger, iPod cord, headphones, mouse, iPod and SD cards.
This blog bag has made my life so easy and exciting to get up every day and get out somewhere to work on my blog! The only thing I switch back and forth from my blog bag to my regular bag is my wallet, so it’s really easy to use. It also helps me stay organized and keeps me feeling professional.
Do you have a blog bag? How do you keep all your blogging tools organized? Where do you blog and how do you find the time to do it? I would love to hear additional tips!
