A Full-Time Blogger Who Is Still Figuring it out
During the summer, after I made the choice to pursue blogging full time while living with my in-laws in California, I put together a blog bag to keep all my blogging gear organized and to encourage myself to get out of the house and work every day! It was really helpful to have all of my stuff in one place so I could just grab it and go to a local coffee shop or internet cafe to work.
Now that we’re in our own space again in Arizona, I now have a home office that I work from every day (which wasn’t the case at first). I wrote last week how I really struggled at first with the transition to working from home full-time: I was treating each morning like I had the day off and wasn’t taking blogging as seriously as I should have been. I would sit on the couch and watch cooking shows while trying to write a post, I got distracted by chores, Rosie would want to play, I would want to go check the mail and I would totally ignore my office/desk. My computer cord was in the living room, my camera gear upstairs, I had three notebooks filled with post ideas, to-do lists and projects and I was so disorganized! I was not doing a good job of embracing my new life as a blogger and #girlboss and knew I needed to change things up.
I started by totally re-doing my morning routine. Getting into a habit of getting up, getting ready, getting the chores out of the way and getting outside all before 9 AM really helped me focus in on my day and eliminate distractions. Then, I decided it was time to actually USE my home office! Dustin and I spent a whole evening a few weeks ago cleaning it out, organizing all the papers, getting bins to organize odds and ends and making it a clean and inviting space to work in.

I was still missing the convenience of my blog bag, so I decided to change things up and make a blog bucket for my desk, filled with necessary things to help me stay focused and productive during my work day.
How to make a blog bucket:
I’m not a crafty person, so I kept this blog bucket as simple as could be! I picked up a cute little bucket at my local craft store and with my new found washi tape, I decorated it! Then, I used a sharpie to write myself a motivational message:
“Don’t just dream it, work for it!”

What Goes In My Blog Bucket
After creating a cute bucket for the top of my desk, I decided to fill it will all of the random, but essential things to my blogging day so I could keep them all in one place. Organization: You have been owned!
Notebook: Before utilizing my home office space, my blog notebook (well, one of many) was always being left somewhere on accident. It was left in the car, in the laundry basket, in the snack cabinent…you know, everywhere. I’m glad I have a space designated to leave the darn thing so I never have to go on a wild goose chase to find it again.
Office Odds & Ends: Right now, that includes cute pens, post-it note flags and cute little jars of thumbtacks and paper clips. All necessary office supplies, obviously, because the dollar section at one of my favorite stores told me so.
Washi Tape - Since discovering the awesome power of Washi Tape and how I can use it to organize EVERYTHING, I definitely want this stuff nearby! I have been using it to organize my planner and have been loving it.
Socks - My feet are ALWAYS cold and I also am convinced that Rosie has hidden all of my socks. So I bought a pair specifically for my blog bucket so I will always have socks to wear while writing that Rosie can’t get to.
Snacks - Specifically, goodnessknows® snack squares. Dustin and I usually spend our weekends going to Sample Saturday at Sam’s Club, where I love being able to taste new snacks before buying them. I’m totally obsessing over these snack squares (specifically the Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate flavor) because they are easy to eat! I don’t need crumbs or sticky stuff on my keyboard! I always take a mid-afternoon snack break around 3:30, because after working hard on my blog all day, I deserve it! I also love that these snack squares curb my chocolate cravings without giving me a sugar rush or making me feel sick afterwards!
If you have a Sam’s Club nearby, a little birdy told me that these yummy little snack squares will be demoed on the 5th and 12th of December! You’ll be able to try the goodnessknows® Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate and then buy the 18 ct. box to last you all month!. Also, these snack squares are actually found in the aisle next to all of the nuts in Sam’s Club, not in the aisle where the other breakfast bars are.
