Well, today I am continuing my Fall Fashion & Beauty series! I totally didn’t plan on it becoming a series, but it has. I shouldn’t be surprised, since I love fall so freaking much. Anyway, we continue on by talking about one of the best parts of fall fashion: boots! I love breaking out my boots when October comes around; I think they are so fun to wear and can really dress up or complete an outfit.
My only problem with boot season is that after going a whole 5-6 months in flip flops, putting my feet into boots can cause some serious problems, namely: blisters. It doesn’t help that my “gait” (or how I walk) is off because of the left knee, so my left foot tends to take the brunt of switching over to fall appropriate close-toed shoes. I used to end up with painful blisters by the end of my first day back in my boots and then I would have to wait a couple weeks before wearing them again.
Luckily, I’ve learned from my mistakes and now know how to properly prepare for boot season! Here are a couple of tips to keep in mind when breaking out your boots this fall.
1. Invest in a good foot lotion to keep your feet smooth and hydrated! Blisters will form faster on dry and cracked skin.
2. Be sure to wear thick, comfty socks to give extra padding between your heel and the boot.
3. Have some COMPEED® Blister Medium Cushions on hand for when you start feeling a blister forming! These bandages act like a second skin and completely cover the raw skin and nerves, protecting the blister from further irritation.I really like that these give full coverage to a blister and stay on until they start to heal. COMPEED® Blister Medium Cushions have been used in Europe for over 30 years and are just starting to make their way into the US Market-I found mine at my local Walgreens!
Now that you are prepared for boot season with your lotion, socks and COMPEED® Blister Medium Cushions, you can now proceed to put together your fall outfits! The best thing about a good pair of boots is that you can style them in so many ways. Here are my three favorite ways to style my go-to pair of boots:
Option one -Comfy and Casual Look: To me, there is nothing more fall-like then wearing leggings and flannel. I paired my boots with this bright red and black flannel, slouchy tee and chunky scarf for ultimate comfort. This outfit is something I would wear ALL of the time in Idaho to stay warm in my house and to take Rosie out on walks.
What I’m Wearing:
Scarf: Amazon
Flannel: Ross (Similar here)
Shirt: Target (similar here)
Boots: Madden Girl via 6PM.com (similar here)
Option Two: Make those boots pop against neutral colors! Ideal for running errands around town. I already showcased this outfit in my guide to fall bags, but I love it so much with these boots that I wanted to share it again. I love pairing my tan and red boots with dark neutrals; I feel like it makes my boots really pop (along with this killer green bag!) This is also a great outfit for those in a warmer climate because you still get the scarf and fall colors without being weighed down by a lot of layers!
Bag: SammyDress
Shirt: Old Navy
Scarf: Maurices (similar here)
Option Three: Dress up a Graphic Tee. I love dressing up my boots and what better way to do it then taking a graphic tee and dressing it up, too? I scored this #ootd tee at my local Burlington Coat factory and thought it would look awesome with my red blazer. Adding some statement jewelry finished the look off and I would be more than okay wearing this on a date night or a party in the fall time!
Blazer – TJ Maxx
Tee – Burlington Coat factory
Necklace – Gifted
