December Goals & Plans
FYI – Affiliate Links 🙂
I know, we’re already through the first week of December and I’m finally getting around to writing some goals, but better late than never, right?
December is my favorite time of year and my calendar is already packed to the brim with holiday parties, concerts, and light tours. Not to mention, we’ll be hosting my WHOLE family for Christmas this year (all 10 of us!) so I’m working hard to get my house put together and decked out for the holidays (Christmas home tour coming soon!) Even though things are crazy right now, I’m still setting some goals for myself. I’m trying to get my life back on track after my miscarriage, and what’s even more, I’m trying to get it on a better track than it was before. It’s not easy, but I have found that more plans and goals I have, the more focused I am and the less time I have to be swallowed up by my sadness.
Personal Goals:
I’ve got so much on my heart and mind in regards to how this whole year has been and what I want to do differently for 2018, but I think I’ll save that for another post at the end of the month while I work on clarifying those goals to myself. Until then, I want to spend December setting up a foundation for the changes I want to make in the new year.
Spend time every day working on personal development – I’ll delve into this more in my year-end post, but as I come out of the fog of having a miscarriage, I’m finding myself craving direction, information, and guidance on being a better version of myself. I am constantly working on bettering myself in my job, in my education, and as a wife, but I’ve never really thought or taken the time to better myself as a person.
I’ve been listening to some amazing podcasts over the last two weeks and they have already made HUGE differences in how I act or react to something, how I approach something, and how I am setting myself up for success. Literally, it’s been changing my life and I’ve been able to find a lot of peace through it.
I want to continue to make self-help and personal development a priority this month and make sure I’m dedicating time to learning every day.
Say No to things that don’t serve me – Something else I’ve been working on lately is saying NO to things that don’t serve me or things that take up too much of my limited free time. I’ve been so swamped these last few months between my job and my church calling and various church activities and family and traveling and social life that I have had NO time to pursue my passion – my blog.
I’ve realized that I’ve spread myself too thin, mainly because I am a people pleaser and I don’t know how to say no. I’ve been working on saying no to more things (especially things that come up last minute) so that I can dedicate more time to healing my heart and my blog. It’s been really freeing.
Make Plans for 2018 – I just got back from getting Thai food with Dustin and over dinner, we started talking about what we wanted 2018 to look like and feel like and be. It was a painful conversation since we thought 2018 would bring us a baby in May, but it was also a beautiful one. I’m hopeful on so many levels for what 2018 can be for us and we talked through a lot of different ideas and plans and goals. We’ll be focusing on narrowing it all down over the next few weeks and I’ll be sure to share what our plans for 2018 are as soon as we got it solid!
Blogging Goals:
Finalize my 2018 Blog Business Plan and Goals – I’m actually really proud of myself for already having most of this done already! There are a few more things I need to hammer out, but the general gist of it is already there. This year has been so rough for me and my little family in SO many ways, and one of the things that really bums me out was how my blog took a back seat. I’m really focused on getting back to my blog and growing it into something better than what it is already.
Sign and make a payment for my photographer contract – I am SO excited to say that I’ll be working with my favorite SLC photographer for a whole YEAR in 2018! I’ve worked with Sadie a lot in 2017, I love her style, and I love that setting up shoots with her holds me accountable to actually getting photos done for my blog. So, when she asked if I wanted to sign a contract with her for 2018, I didn’t hestitate one second. The best part of it all? Sadie has become a really great friend to me and working with her is just so much fun.
So, if you are a blogger in the SLC area and are looking for a super talented photographer who “gets” blogging and who is also genuinely an amazing person, check out Sadie. She’s the best.
Begin the HTC redesign process – Not a rebrand, though. I’m going to still be blogging at Hey There, Chelsie. But, I’ve decided that it’s time to really run with my dreams and invest in a custom design for my site. I’ve just started the process with an amazingly talented web designer and can’t wait to show you what we come up with next month!
More Instagram Stories! I’ve been doing a lot more Instagram stories in the last week and it’s been SO fun! It’s such a real way to connect with so many of my friends and it really feels like we’re hanging out. I want to do more more more, so if you like listening to me ramble, want to watch me try out my new steam mop, or watch my pup, Teddy, literally try to unbox my packages, give me a follow at www.instagram.com/heytherechelsie.

Okay, that’s where I’m at right now for December. I’m feeling hopeful for the things to come. And once again, I can’t thank you enough for being here. This space on the internet, and your love and support has given me the needed strength and motivation to keep pushing forward. I love you all.
Let me know what goals you’re working on this month. Have you already started thinking about your 2018?
