Easy Drugstore Makeup Tutorial
If you follow me on Snapchat, you know that two days ago I took myself to Sephora and spoiled myself silly. I finally got my hands on Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop, Kat Von D’s Shade and Light Eye Palette and Too Faced Born This Way Foundation…yeah, it was an expensive day. Here’s the thing: I love splurging once in a while on high-end makeup (especially eyeshadow palettes). And yes, I definitely think there are some products worth the splurge and there are some products that you totally can skip out and save on buy getting dupes at the Drugstore…but how would I be able to tell you all about that if I didn’t try them all out?
Anyway, my whole point is that while I love splurging on matte eyeshadows that blend like a dream, I know that not everyone can or wants to spend that kind of money on makeup. Even I don’t want to spend that kind of money on makeup all the time. Whatever kind of makeup you like or spend your money on; you do you. I love makeup, maybe a little too much. Some people might think that’s vain of me or that makes me materialistic, but as I’ve said before: taking the time to put on my makeup helps me appreciate my body and remind myself that I’m alive and have much to be grateful for. Sure, I can go out in public without any makeup on and be just fine. But I feel like taking the time to invest in how I look helps me put my best foot forward for the day. And I’ll keep buying high-end makeup and telling you what to skip and what to consider splurging on. Deal? Deal.
Sorry. I got on a bit of a rant there. I’m not even writing about high end makeup today! When I saw that the Makeup Mixup prompt was Frugal Flair, I knew I had the perfect opportunity to do a complete drugstore makeup tutorial (minus Colour Pop, but they are drugstore priced, so I think it counts). And not only did I want to make this all drugstore, I wanted to make this relatively simple and easy for those of you who may be looking for a daytime look or something more natural.
Note: I did use my Maybelline Nudes palette in this tutorial because I know so many of my friends own it. But, I’m not going to lie to you, it’s not my favorite. I find the shadows SO hard to blend out and kind of chalky. I can make it work and I wanted to use a product that others already had, but if you don’t own this palette, you can pass on it. Order some Makeup Geek shadows instead.
