Favs and Fails October
In case you missed the announcement, our monthly In & Out post got a new name this month! Itās now called “Favs and Fails!” Itās still the same type of post and still cohosted by my good friends Ashley at Simply Ashley Nicole and will still happen on the last Friday of every month. So, weād love for you to drop by with your post about your favorite things from the month and the fails from the month. They donāt have to be beauty related, your lists can be about anything that you loved or anything that just didnāt work out! I canāt wait to see what your Favorites or Fails have been!
So, my favoriteās for the month!
Favorites:
LāOreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (102 Shell Beige)
This has quickly become one of the best drugstore foundations I have ever used and itās been the one Iāve reached for the most this month. It provides a medium-full coverage and is build-able without looking cakey. Since moving to Arizona, my skin has gone from combination to the dryer side, so I do use a thicker moisturizer under this foundation to make sure it doesnāt get patchy or clingy. I also blend it out with a damp beauty sponge to sheer it out a tad, but with those steps and this foundation, I get such a natural looking, even finish! The only downfall to this foundation is that there isnāt a very wide shade range. The color that I use (102 - Shell Beige) is a tad bit to warm for my skin tone, but there is only one shade lighter and itās too pale! I hope that LāOreal releases more colors soon!
Maybelline Color Tattoos - Iāve had these for a while, but Iāve been using them a lot more this month and loving them! These are great for an all over lid color, but Iāve been using them as a base/primer for my eyeshadows. These things get the job done! I donāt have any creasing with my shadows when I use them and they really intensify the shadows Iām packing on top of them.
Mac Prep and Prime Fix + I splurged on this at the end of September; I had just gone through my Urban Decay de-slick setting spray, which I loved for setting makeup, but didnāt love for intensifying metallic shadows, so I picked this up instead of repurchasing the UD one. Iām in love. This stuff does AMAZING things to eyeshadows and completely changes the texture and color of them, but in a good way. And, it sets my makeup like none other. I am always amazed at how much makeup I have to take off at the end of the day. Itās a little pricy, but itās still cheaper than the UD and in my opinion, so worth it. Thereās nothing like taking the time to do your face and having it melt off 2 hours later.
Trader Joeās Fall Harvest Salsa - If you follow me on snapchat (cwhit145) you know how utterly obsessed I am with this stuff. I went to TJās at the beginning of the month to scope out all the pumpkin flavored things. When I saw “pumpkin salsa” I immediately was like “uhhhhh, that looks questionable” and walked passed it. Thankfully, they were sampling the salsa at the store so I was able to try it and realize how crazy I was to pass over it. It is SO good! Itās got all the flavors of a good chunky salsa with just a hint of sweetness from the pumpkin and the apple. I went back yesterday and bought 2 more cans before they go off the shelves until next October.
Bath and Body Works 3 Wick Candle in Salted Caramel -I never buy B&BW candles for full price, but when there is a sale, Iām all over it like hot cakes. I literally dropped everything I was doing last Friday when I saw they were having a BOGO with an additional 25% off, making each candle a little over 8 dollars. The salted caramel one takes my obsession to a whole new level; and I will be buying at least 10 more when the next sale happens. Iām not even kidding.
The New England Patriots - And also a husband who is finally into football as much as I am! I know there are so many haters out there, but I was born and raised on NE football and I have loved seeing Tom Brady on his vengeance tour. Hereās hoping that they destroy the Dolphinās tonight!
Fails
I donāt have any pictures of my fails this month because I was so disappointed by them that I returned them. But, I feel like everyone should be warned about these products and to not buy them:
Revlon Dark Lash Adhesive - Weāve talked about my eyelashes (or lack thereof) before. I love popping on falsies when I just canāt get the gaps in my eyelashes to go away. After running out of my Sonia Kashuk glue, I decided I would try the Revlon one because I liked the applicator on it. This stuff is a total fail for me. The glue is impossible to get off the false eyelashes and itās impossible to get off your eyes. I would still have glue stuck to my eyelid for 2-3 days after pulling my lashes off. I would try soaking my eyes with micellar water, makeup remover, warm water, and it still was so hard to get off. My eyes would get red and irritated and I wouldnāt wear makeup for a couple days after to let them calm down. Yuck yuck yuck. I finally stopped putting myself through the nightmare and bought a new tube of Sonia Kashuk and my lashes and I have been living happily ever after.
Series 7 Test - Dustin has to take this MASSIVE test for his job as an investment consultant. Heās been studying so hard for the last month, and Iāve been so proud of all his hard work. Itās been frustrating for him to feel like he has the material down and then take a practice test and realize that the test wants to trick you. Itāll have four answers that could ALL be correct and he has to pick the one that is the most correct. Iām ready for this test to be over so that Dustin doesnāt have to stress about it anymore and I can see more of his face during the evenings!
October was a month full of favorites and only a few fails, so Iāll take it. Have you tried any of these products recently? What were your favorites and fails from the month? Canāt wait to see everyoneās lists!
