Golden Tote Review
Thanks to Golden Tote for sponsoring this post today. I received free product in exchange for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
Minus my successful trip to Walmart a few weeks ago, I have been really struggling in the shopping for clothes department. Moving from cold Idaho to 106 degree Chico, California weather has been a bit of a wardrobe shock for me and I didn’t realize how completely unprepared I was for my new climate change. Between not being prepared for warm weather and wanting to step up my game in looking more put together then usual, I really needed a solution. I was so excited when Golden Tote reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to try their service out!
Golden Tote is a clothing service that works a little differently than most. There is no monthly billing cycle; you order when you want some new clothes and choose from two options: The small tote (3-4 Items for $49) or the large tote (5-6 Items for $149). You get to choose 1-2 items (depending on the tote size) from their monthly selection that you definitely want to try. Then, you fill out a style profile and a stylist will pick out and additional 4-5 items and send it to you in a lovely tote! They also just released a surprise tote option for $99.00 which includes 4 pieces that are picked out just for you! This may seem pretty pricy at first, but when you compare it to the value of the items in your box, it’s a pretty screaming deal. Additionally, I’ve never had a Stitchfix box total come in anywhere near that price for all of the items in it (the lowest was 208) so all things considered, the price isn’t too bad for some quality items that I don’t have to spend hours looking for myself.
Golden Tote is an all or nothing bag, so you either keep it all or send it all back. If you like the majority of your pieces, you can hop on to their Facebook trading page and sell that one piece that just didn’t make the cut.
I left a note for my stylist requesting no thin strapped or strapless tops, things that are light for summer wear, possibly a maxi dress and pieces that would be flattering for my chest size. I also was open to pushing my boundaries a little by trying out more bohemian styles. MY STYLIST LISTENED! I’ve never had complete success with a stylist with any other clothing subscription box before, so I was really excited to see that I got pretty much exactly what I wanted!
Pretty Pleated Blouse – Requested Item
This was one of my requested items; I thought it looked light and airy for summer time and loved the pretty pleated detail on the neckline. I loved it even more on! I think that the fit is quite flattering and love that I can dress it up with my red leather jacket (Burlington Coat Factory) and some pretty jewels (Kendra Scott c/o Rocksbox)
Distressed White Skinnies – Requested Item
I requested the White Skinies because I have been looking for white pants FOREVER and couldn’t find any. I figured it would be fun to give the distressed pair a try for a different take. These jeans are so comfortable and fit really well. They are a tiny bit short on me, but I end up rolling my jeans once or twice in the summer, so it doesn’t bother me!
Sweet Claire Floral Print Tee:
This was a surprise item and I was so happy to see that my stylist sent me a summery top that had sleeves and felt cool and comfortable! It also pairs really well with the jeans I picked out!
Fun 2 Fun Ethnic Print Top
I pulled this out of the bag and was a little worried at first. I don’t have anything like this in my closet and probably wouldn’t pick it up at a store. But, when I tried it on, I instantly fell in love. The cut was super flattering, I loved that I could pair it with my new jeans and I love the print on me. Plus, it’s a super light and airy fabric perfect for summer!
Peach Love Sleeveless Shift Dress with Tassels
This was another piece that I was worried about when I pulled out. I’m super tall, so shift dresses tend to not work in my favor. I was excited to see that I got a more bohemian styled piece but was thinking this would be a piece that would have to be traded or sold on the facebook group. However, I decided to try it on with a pair of leggings and once I saw how it looked together, I knew I would keep it. With my height and the leggings, this piece looks more like an extra long tunic. I love the crocheted details and the pops of color. Although this would be more of a late summer/early fall look, I’m still super happy with it. It’s definitely outside of my comfort zone, but it’s been so fun to wear!
Pink Owl Floral Print Maxi Dress:
This is the one piece I’m considering trading on the Facebook page. I actually think it looks pretty good on and has a nice summery feel, but the waist line is a little weird on me. I won’t be heartbroken if I have to keep it, but I think I’ll try to trade it/sell it just for the experience and maybe finding a dress with a more flattering cut on the waist
Although I couldn’t find retail prices on all of these pieces, the ones I could find for four of the pieces added up to just over $200! So, I do feel like there are some serious savings to be found in using Golden Tote along with getting some fun pieces that are unique to you and your wardrobe!
Have you tried Golden Tote? What are your thoughts on my Maxi dress? What is your favorite piece that I got?
