July Stitch Fix Review
After the most successful experience with Golden Tote last month, I was anxious to get this month’s Stitch Fix and see if it would even be able to hold a torch to how great my GT was. My last fix was pretty disappointing, so I decided that if this fix didn’t blow my socks off, I would be done trying it for a while. Don’t get me wrong, Stitch Fix reviews are fun, but I’d rather be putting my 20 dollars to a GT if it was more successful!
In case you’ve been living in a cave, Stitch Fix is a clothing subscription service where you fill out a style profile and pay 20 dollars to have 5 items sent to your door to try on. Try stuff on and think about it for three days. Your 20 dollars can be applied to any piece you may want to keep. Anything that doesn’t fit your fancy is put back into an included, prepaid envelope to send back. I’m not going to lie; it is a fun and easy way to try new pieces that you can’t find in any old department store and if you stylist hits the nail on the head, you get to add quality pieces to your wardrobe.
Here’s how this fix shook out:
Ivy Tulip Print Tab Sleeve Blouse – $64.00 Out of the box, I loved this so much. The material was thick and silky and the color was awesome. Then, my niece asked me why I was wearing tiny duck feet all over my shirt…strike one. And then I put it on…stike two. I could not lift my arms up or move them around without the neckline getting all bunched up and awkward. So, this was a return. Bummer.
Market and Spruce Sam Hi Low Tee-$44.00When I pulled this out I was initially super bummed..I mean, it’s kind of plain! But then I put it on and it was so soft and comfortable. I really dig the color and realized that this top has a lot of potential to style (I’m thinking statement necklaces in the summer and chunky scarves in the fall). So, this was a keeper.
Papermoon Pleated Top-$44.00 This is the face of disappointment. I loved this top out of the box! The color was so summery and I loved the detail in the tops of the sleeves. But what the heck was going on with the pleating on the neckline! It just made my bust look bigger then it already is; which is not what I’m going for. Returned.
Shayna Tiller Tile Print Bouse-$54.00 What even is this thing? I felt like I was wearing a pillow case. I didn’t know how to even stand in this or wear it. This was the biggest bust out of the box. RETURNED!
Bay to Baubles Earrings-$28.00 Are these earrings for giants? I held them up and they were touching my shoulders. I’ve got a pup who loves to wrestle and snuggle; I don’t need to give her any excuse to rip out an earring from my earlobe. Returned.
Okay, so I thought that I would know after this fix if I would want to keep trying it or not, but I’m still torn! I only kept one piece, but there were two more that I would have kept if the fit was better, so at least the styling was right! If I had kept all 5 pieces, the total of the box would have been 160.00, which is very similar to the GT price. WHAT’S A GIRL TO DO!? I’m going to take a break from Stitch Fix for a couple of months and give them another try in the Fall and see how it goes then.
