Makeup Mixup: Pinterest Pick
It’s good to be back. In the last two weeks, Dustin, Rosie and I packed up all of our things and moved from California back to Idaho. We visited our friends and family there for a week, deposited stuff into our storage unit, celebrated Dustin’s graduation and then we packed up, again. Rosie and I flew home to New Hampshire on Monday and the last couple of days I’ve been unpacking, adjusting to the time change and settling in. It’s been absolutely exhausting to be traveling so much and to be towing all my stuff and my pup along with me. I’m glad to finally be settled in for the next six weeks and look forward to ONE LAST MOVE in September to AZ and then we will be settled down for a while.
Anyway, I’m super glad to be back to my blog, and I hope you enjoyed the guest posts these last few days. If you missed them, be sure to check out Inside my Blogging Binder from Courtney, The Last 5 Things I Purchased from Taylor and On Taking the Plunge from Elizabeth!
Today I’m linking up with the Makeup Mixup to bring you a fun makeup look. This week’s prompt was “Pinterest Pick” and so I had my dear friend Melissa from melissadeason.com pick a picture from Pinterest for me to recreate and this is what she gave me and how mine came out in comparison!
I really liked doing this prompt because it forced me to try new color combos that I wouldn’t normally reach for. And while this isn’t a daily look that I would choose to rock, it is a fun look to put on for a special date night or event!
In order to complete this look, I primed my lid with concelar and swept Milani’s single shadow in bella mandarin all into my crease, layering it to build a peachy, orange color. I then swept Salted Caramel from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette into the crease to deepen the color. I used NYX’s jumbo eyeliner in Purple Velvet to fill in my lid and then lined my eyes with Jordana’s bold felt-tip liner. While I let my liner dry, I primed my face with NYX photoready primer and then used Revlon’s color stay foundation in the shade Vanilla to even out my skin tone. After using CG’s Ready, Set, Gorgeous concealer in light and setting it with powder, I used the NYX face art liner in pretty violet on my lower lash line and packed it on thick to get the violet color nice and bright. I dabbed the inner corners of my eyes with Honey Pot from the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette, bronzed my face with NYC bronzer in sunny, added some Ardell Falsies to my lash line and set it all with my UD no-slick setting spray. I picked up some of these products at Ulta a few days ago in order to complete this look and will be reviewing my favorites and least favorites in tomorrow;s In & Out post!
So, how did I do? Does it look somewhat close to the picture? Have you ever tried to do a makeup look from pinterest?
