Moving Hacks & Snacks

Well, we’re almost there. I’m writing this as the buyers of our home do their final walk-thru and the day before we close on both our current home and our new one. Holy. Smokes. It’s been a crazy couple weeks, I’m telling you.
This isn’t my first time around the block in terms of moving. In fact, this will be my 7th move in our six years of marriage, so I’d like to think that we’re pretty knowledgable when it comes to packing up our lives and moving them to a new place. Minus the actual process of selling our house (which was new to us this time around, and definitely comes with its own bundle of stress) I’ve been the calmest about this move because we have systems in place to help it be as seamless as possible.
I figured I’d share a couple moving hacks we’ve discovered along the way to help
1. Invest in reusable tubs – We typically do 1/2 and 1/2 when it comes to moving boxes: 1/2 are cardboard boxes and 1/2 are reusable plastic bins. Investing in plastic bins has been awesome because we’re able to reuse them for storage down the road, like in the garage or for holiday decorations. Plus, they are easier to move and more reliable – you don’t have to worry about the bottom breaking open while carrying them!
2. Use blankets and towels for fragile things – I have a few very precious and very fragile family heirlooms that I ALWAYS stress out about when we move. It would absolutely devastate me if something happened to them and honestly, bubblewrap just doesn’t provide enough support or cushioning. I’ve learned to use all my blankets and towels to line all my boxes and create little cushy nests for my fragile things. I also label them AGGRESSIVELY and make sure I tell everyone that I am the only one in charge of moving those boxes, so that way if anything happens, I’m the only one to blame.
3. Have tasty anytime snacks easily available for all the moving munchies. Dustin and I basically stop grocery shopping two weeks before a move and try to eat our way through our fridge so that we don’t have to worry about moving a ton of perishable food. Once we’ve gotten through that, we turn to take out for meals and keep a few snacks on hand that work at any time of the day. The snack we’re turning to most frequently this move is nutter puffs, which we first discovered at Costco a few months ago. We’re very big fans of popchips, so we trusted that we would like nutter puffs just the same and they did not disappoint.
We love nutter puffs because they feel good to eat any time of the day: a morning commute to work, in between packing boxes, and as a pick me up after a gym workout. These little corn puffs are a craveable snack that feels indulgent but really isn’t because they celebrate the simple joy of peanut butter. They are light, crunchy, and have 5g of protein per serving, which is really ideal for someone who’s moving her body WAY more than normal to pack up her house. #needalltheprotein. Still on the fence about giving them a try? nutter puffs are non-GMO, vegan, and made with real peanut butter. PLUS they come in a peanut butter chocolate combo, which always fulfills my need to indulge without making me feel gross. 10/10 would recommend.
Having a few bags of nutter puffs around our house while packing honestly makes packing more enjoyable because of #snacks. And you can bet we both have bags in our cars for when we have to sit outside our house and wait while the buyers come to walk through! Oh and you can order nutter puffs to try when you make your next Amazon order, because they are on PRIME!
Okay, your turn! Have you tried nutter puffs? Have you moved before? What are your favorite anytime snacks?
