I totally spaced updating my new mailing address with PopSugar MustHave when we left Arizona and promptly panicked when I received an email saying my April box had shipped to my old address. Thankfully, my managers at my old apartment complex emailed me and said they would forward the box on to our new address. I went and updated my address on PopSugar, but apparently, I have two accounts with them (one that I’m paying for the subscription with and one through my Facebook account) so my May box got sent to my old AZ address again. That package got forwarded to me as well, but apparently the mail hates being forwarded because it took FOREVER and a DAY for both packages to get to me (and they actually showed up only a few days apart.)
I filmed a video where I opened both boxes, but, much to my dismay, I was out of focus for over half of it. #newbievloggerproblems. So, I’m finally sitting down to share what was in my boxes AND because I opened them over 2 weeks ago and have used almost all of the products, I can also give mini reviews and let ya’ll know if any of these products are worth buying (I found many of these products on Amazon and linked them up for you!)
PopSugar MustHave April Box 2016
The words that inspired the April box were floral, green, natural, sustainable, fresh & renewal. Naturally, I expected this box to be full of organic/green living type things, and I wasn’t far off. I was a little apprehensive since I’m not really into all of that stuff, but there were a couple pleasant surprises in this box!
Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings: Recipes For All The Food You Want to Eat Cook Book (Retail: $29.99)
This was the big ticket item in the box and while I normally just use Pinterest to look for recipes (you can check out my Recipes to Try board here) I was excited to hold a real cookbook in my hands. I was nervous that all of the recipes would be really weird and complicated and I would have to go to a fancy store to get all of the ingredients, but I was pleasantly surprised that it has a bunch of attainable recipes. The book also has beautiful photographs, which may be weird to say, but I love looking at photos of food. I’ve only tried one recipe from this cookbook so far and it was fairly successful.
Next by Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans (Retail: $3.99)
I don’t drink coffee and actually don’t really like the taste of it, either, so this was a pretty big bust for me. 🙁
Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm (Retail: $48.00)
I love love love the skincare/beauty products that come in the PopSugar boxes, so I was stoked to see a full-sized balm from a high-end brand that just got into Sephora. I normally don’t care about packaging, but the packaging on this was fantastic. The box was folded up like origami and had information on the product printed all on the sides and the tub itself looks great with a woodgrain cap. I like the smell of this product too but have learned that I need to wait to use it regularly until I’m out of the South. My dry skin would drink this stuff up on a normal basis, but right now I’m really struggling with oil and this balm makes that problem worse. I wake up in the morning feeling like a grease ball.
Noon Design Shop “Lemons” Flour Sack Tea Towel (Retail: $18.00)
I love love love flour sack towels; they are very durable in the kitchen and last forever. Plus, I thought the lemon print on this was cute and appropriate for spring/summer. I’m not sure I would ever pay $18.00 for one on my own, but I’ve gotten a TON of use out of this towel since I got it, so I’m really happy with it!
Royal Apothic Field Poppy Conservatories Hand Creme (Retail $24.00)
The packaging for this lotion was very fancy and extravagant and the lotion smells really nice! I like that it came with one of those tube-roller things that will allow you to squeeze the last little bits of lotion out. I do enjoy this lotion, but it’s nothing special compared to other lotions.
Canvas Home Tinware Salt & Pepper Shakers (Retail $12.00)
These little shakers aren’t necessarily my style, but they are cute and they actually look super adorable next to one of my most prized possessions: a ceramic pot hand painted by my grandmother. While I wouldn’t buy these myself, I wasn’t displeased to have them in my box!
Bloom That $20.00 Gift Card
Bloom That is an online flower delivery market and I was so stoked to get a $20.00 gift card to use! Although $20.00 will only cover half of what it will cost to send flowers to my mama for her birthday, it still helps a lot!
April Box Final Thoughts:
Standout Product: I really loved the Sack Tea Towel and have gotten the most use out of that!
Dud Product: The Next by Nature Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans where not a hit at all.
Overall Rating: This box was a 3.5 out of 5 stars for me! While the overall retail value was awesome (roughly $165.00) there were only a couple products that I really loved.
PopSugar MustHave May Box 2016
The words that inspired the May box were hydration, yoga & deep breaths. I felt like this theme was really similar to the April theme, so that was a little disappointing, but since I’m really working on changing my lifestyle to a healthier one, I was excited to see if there would be any products that would aid me in my journey.
Kocostar Foot Therapy (Retail: $10.00)
This is one of the few products I haven’t been able to try out yet, mainly because it’s a treatment that requires you to be off your feet for 1.5-2 hours and with two rambunctious goldens bumping around, it’s hard to stay off my feet for longer than 30 minutes (follow me on snapchat to see their crazy antics @cwhit145.) But, I like the idea of doing a wrap for my feet, especially since they take such a beating during flip flop season.
Spongelle Spongology Body Buffer (Retail: $20.00)
This buffer smells EXACTLY like a Lush store. Like, if you could bottle up the smell of a Lush store, it would smell just like this body wash infused sponge. Basically, it smells amazing. Plus, the sponge has a really great texture to exfoliate with, so I really have felt a difference in my skin after I have used it in the shower. Even when the body wash runs out, I’m going to keep the sponge because the texture is awesome.
Gaiam Foldable Yoga Mat (Retail: $24.98)
So, it’s really cool that there is a full sized yoga mat in this box, but I already have one and barely use that one, so getting another one was kind of a disappointment.
Happy Spritz Breath Deeply (Retail: $25.00)
This is a spray made with peppermint & eucalyptus essential oils and is meant to help invigorate and soothe you. While this spray smells nice, it really doesn’t last long after you spray it. I spray it on my pillow at night to breathe while falling asleep and while it’s nice to smell, I’m not sure if it really does much for me!
Jimmybar Peanut Butter Clutter Snack Bar (Retail: $2.49)
This was tasty! That’s basically all I have to say about it!
Bluma Project Capri Bracelets (Retail: $44.00)
These delicate bracelets were handcrafted by Guatemalan artisans and are so dainty and feminine. I normally don’t wear bracelets because my wrists are so tiny and feel really uncomfortable, but since these are so small and light, I’ve been able to comfortably wear them. I really like that they are on trend with the tassels and they have some 24 ct. gold beads! Soooo, I’m a fan!
Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara (Retail $8.99)
This was an extra in the box and I was so excited to get some makeup in the box! I’ve also been really interested in trying out the Revlon mascara since they reformulated them. Unfortunately, this did NOTHING for my lashes. I put several coats on and could barely tell that I had mascara on. This works as a decent lower lash mascara, but I’ll have to stick to my Holy Grail Too Faced BTS, still. Not that I’m complaining…because that mascara is magic.
May Box Final Thoughts:
Standout Product: Spongelle Body Buffer! LOVE LOVE LOVE the smell and the great exfoliator I get from it!
Dud Product: Yoga mat. I already have one! I don’t need two!
Overall Thoughts: I give this box a 3 stars out of 5. While I am obsessing over the Spongelle buffer and the snack was yummy, I was pretty disappointed that the big item was a yoga mat and also that the mascara stunk. Oh well.
I have now received four PopSugar Musthave Boxes. You can see my unboxing of my February one here. I didn’t review my March one because I was moving, but it was pretty good! My first two boxes were fantastic, and these last two were meh. I’m going to get one more box before I decide if I want to cancel it. I do think that the value in the boxes are phenomenal (over $150.00 worth of product for $39.99) and it is fun to get a variety of products. I saw a couple spoilers for the June box and I am feeling pretty optimistic, so fingers crossed!
