3 Must-Have Pieces for your Spring Wardrobe
Thank you to Filly Flair for sponsoring today’s post! Check out all of their beautiful pieces here:
Hey there, friends. Life has been so crazy this month (which you all know) so it’s been really hard to work on HTC while juggling so many other things. This month has been one big emotional rollercoaster with house-buying, moving, birthday-ing, etc. I’m grateful that most of the craziness is now behind us and I can finally start writing again. I have so much to share about this house-buying process, about my birthday this month, and about the new products I’ve been testing out! But, I wanted to jump back into blogging by sharing some of my favorite spring wardrobe items I’ve been wearing non-stop recently.
The weather in Utah has finally become warm and sunny (although it’s been rainy and raw the last two days.) If you follow me on snapchat, you’ll have seen that my new neighborhood is lined with beautiful trees that are all covered in pink and white blossoms. SO springy! I know some of you are still dealing with snow and might not see spring for a little while longer, but as those warmer days approach, here are three must-have pieces for your spring wardrobe!
Transitional Chunky Sweater
When I think of spring, I think of that kind of weather that just can’t make up it’s mind. Just last week, I woke up to rainy, wet, raw yuckiness, but by the time I left for lunch, it was partly cloudy and in the high 50’s. It’s the kind of weather where it’s too hot to keep your windows rolled up, but too cold to keep them rolled down. And that kind of weather calls for a transitional sweater!
I love this sweater from Filly Flair (currently on sale for $30.00!) because it’s not too heavy, but not too light. The material actually feels slightly airy but not flimsy, which is perfect for spring time. It’s the perfect weight for those funky temperature days. The blush color also helps transition from winter to spring – it’s a bright and soft color which adds to the lightness, instead of a dark and moody color.
My favorite thing about this sweater is the lace-up detail in the back. It’s such a fun detail and really adds a special element to the sweater.
Caged Booties
Not ready to let go of your boots but you want to get some air on your tootsies? Adding caged booties to your closet is the perfect compromise for spring time. I love love love boots, but my feet are pretty claustrophobic and I’d much rather have be wearing some open-toed shoes instead of close-toed boots.
I love these blush colored caged booties from Filly Flair because they fit the exact description of transitional shoes for spring. They give me that boot-like feel while having a spring color and open design. Plus, having a bit of a heel is great for wet days when you have to walk through a couple puddles (and don’t want wet feet.)
This shoes are really comfortable and versatile – the pair great with jeans, skirts, and dresses.
Floral Maxi Dress
Does anyone else feel weird about wearing maxi-dresses in the winter? Maybe it’s just me, but I do not wear maxi dresses in the winter time. So, once the sun comes out, it’s time to break out all my breezy and bright floral dresses. The shape of maxi dresses are flattering on everyone and I love the movement that the give as I walk around.
I was immediately drawn to this maxi dress (on sale for $30.00!) from Filly Flair because of the beautiful patterns and bodice cut. The colors felt like a springy take on winter (white and blue) which is perfect for transitioning between seasons. I love that the floral pattern felt vintange without feeling dated. My favorite detail of this dress is the ruffled hemline – I’ve never seen a maxi dress with a hemline like this one and I loved the way that it weighs down the dress while walking. It gives it such a different kind of movement comparied to other maxi dresses.
I wore my blue criss-cross sandals that I got on clearance from Kohl’s to summers ago. I felt like the colors played well off each other. I felt like my wood bangle from Colored by Amber would play off well with the vintage feel. I finished accessorizing with a delicate rose gold necklace and studs to not distract from the pattern of the dress!
With the sun shining and the warm weather coming, I’m feeling hopeful and excited for this new season of life.
