6 Best Blushes under 7 Dollars
I have a weird skin condition where the weather affects my cheek color. Not your typical “rosy cheeks” in the winter or “flushed cheeks” in the summer. My cheeks turn heat radiating beet read when I’m a tiny bit hot or a tiny bit cold. For that reason, I was always afraid of blush because I didn’t need to add anything else to that problem to make my cheeks standout any more. Growing up, I was always afraid of my cheeks getting too red and I would layer the foundation over my face to try to help counter it. Of course, I ended up with cake face and red cheeks and tons of people asking me why I was so upset (thinking my red cheeks were a sign of anger or sadness). I was not a fan.
As I’ve gotten back into makeup over the last couple of months, I’m realizing that there is a lot of my face that I was ashamed of. Last week I wrote about how I’ve been embarrassed about my teeth and now as I sit down to write about blush, I realize I’ve always been self-conscious about my cheeks. It’s helped me realize how much makeup has helped me lately; instead of running away from my flaws, I’ve been embracing them and letting makeup help me overcome my insecurities (not cover them up). I’ve been wearing lipstick despite my teeth being yellow and I’m now wearing a little blush, despite me being afraid of my red cheeks and it’s empowering and delightful all at once. Who would have thought that makeup could be so powerful?
Anyways, that being said, I’ve found some pretty awesome blushes over the last couple of months that go on bold enough to give my cheeks a pretty color when I’m not suffering red cheek syndrome, but sheer enough to not enhance my cheeks when they start turning to the color of beets. Plus, all of the ones I have been using come in under 7 bucks! What’s not to love? So if you are looking for a new blush to try that is bold AND sheer (how is that possible?) here are my 6 best blushes under 7 bucks:
Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint in Apricot Glow – ($4.67) – This is the only liquid blush that I have in my collection, but I love it. I apply it lightly with a beauty sponge on the apple’s of my cheeks and it blends out beautifully; not too bold but enough to give my cheeks just a slight tint of color!
Essence Silky Touch Blush in Baby Doll – ($2.99) This is one of my favorite blushes to use when I’m looking a little pale. It goes on sheer at first, but is buildable and gives that perfect rosy cheek look without going overboard. And, for under 3 bucks, you can’t go wrong!
BH Cosmetics Baked Blush in Harmony – ($5.00) – BH Cosmetics can only be ordered online for now, but it’s really great quality makeup for a great price. The Baked Blush gives a really great glow to the skin without packing on too much color!
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal – ($5.50) – This is the sheerest blush I own and the texture is kind of different (more like a mousse) but I love how it goes on. it gives the cheeks the most subtle color and definition. This is a great blush for humid or hot days because it’s more cream based!
Maybelline Master Hi-Light in Nude or Coral – ($6.50) – This is one of my favorite blush products because it doubles as a hi-light. It’s the perfect combination of color and shimmer, there is no fallout (so I don’t end up with shimmer all over my face) and blends well. When I’m going for a more natural look, I dust this over my cheeks to do a blush and hi-light at once or when I’m going for an extreme hi-lighted look, I dust this over my blush and hi-light to give it an extra pop!
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso – ($5.99) – This is my favorite, favorite blush. It can be over $7.00 depending on where you see it but if you order it off drugstore.com you can get it below 7 dollars. This is the most perfect color for the cheek and it will flatter pretty much any skin tone. It’s more golden/peachy and just gives the face such a glow without being to obvious. Basically, if I was to only pick one blush to use for the rest of my life, this one would be it.
I’m linking up with the Makeup Mixup today, where all the girls are talking about blushes! In the pictures below, I am using the Rimmel Cheek Tint and then topped it with the Maybelline Master Hi Light in Nude for some extra glowiness!
