In and Out – August Edition
I know everyone is bumming about it being the end of August and summer, but I can’t begin to express how absolutely excited I am that September is just around the corner. September means Dustin coming home to me after 6 weeks of being apart; it means us finally finally moving to Arizona and getting back into our own apartment and space and it means FALL IS COMING! August has been so fun with my family, but I am so completely ready to be back with my husband and to get back into our own space and to burn all the fall scented candles and wear all the fall clothes.
Anyway, I’m super excited to bring this month’s In and Out post and our first In & Out Link Up! Be sure to check out Ashley’s and Emilie’s lists as well! They both put their own take on In & Out lists, which is so interesting and great! No vlog this month because life has been a little crazy (see here) but I have had my hands full with new products to try. Here are the ones that were definitely IN and the ones that are totally OUT!
Swirl & Sparkle Makeup Brush Cleaner: I hate cleaning my makeup brushes. Like, abhor it. But I also hate having dirty makeup brushes! So, when I received this sample from the owner of this adorable Etsy shop, my life completely changed. This little jar has a makeup cleanser in it and a little acrylic diamond. You simply run it under the water and then swirl your brush around it, using the diamond as a scrubbing agent and the makeup comes right off. It takes me 30 seconds to clean each brush; it’s super simple and easy and I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who hates cleaning their makeup brushes!
L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes: Okay, this mascara is a little misleading because it doesn’t have fibers (that I can see) like the ones from the Unique Fiber Lash, but I am really digging this mascara. The brush bristles are HARD, so if you have sensitive eyes, you may want to pass on this one. But, because the bristles are hard, there is absolutely no clumping whatsoever. I can feel the brush separate my lashes as I apply it and I get such a full, soft look with this mascara. Definitely my new favorite drugstore mascara out there.
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick (shades First Class Nude and Pink Dazzler)- This is definitely my new favorite drugstore lipstick because the formula is so hydrating! Seriously, this is like putting on a great chapstick, except it has great color and it lasts pretty long as well! Pink Dazzler is one of my go-to shades right now; I’m constantly reaching for it because I love how hydrating it feels on my lips.
Urban Decay de-slick makeup setting spray- When I came to New England at the end of July, I couldn’t get through a couple hours without my makeup melting off my face. The first week I was home we were experiencing temperatures in the mid 90’s with over 90% humidity. It was disgusting. I went to Ulta in search of a setting spray that might help my makeup stay on and decided to try this UD one because it was for oil control and the humidity was making my face super oily. I bought the travel/sample size for $14.00 and I’m here to tell you that this stuff totally works. My makeup stays in place all day long, even in the humidity and I have seen a totally difference in the days I use it compared to the days I don’t. If you live in a humid place and need help setting your makeup, this is your ticket.
Makeup Geek & Morphe Eyeshadows: I decided to try a few single eyeshadows from Makeup Geek and Morphe this month because my favorite youtubers rave about them and the price is so right (like drugstore right) for them. ($5.99 for a Makeup Geek shadow and $2.99 for a Morphe Shadow). I cannot lie; these shadows are the best shadows I have ever used. In my humble opinion, they are even better than Urban Decay and Too Faced. The pigment in both brands of eyeshadow are unreal and the Makeup Geek ones especially blend out beautifully. And, in my limited experience, these eyeshadows are comparable (and dare I say, better?) than MAC. If you are looking for high quality eyeshadows at an amazing price, I would totally recommend you look into these shadows over getting an Urban Decay or Too Faced palette. (Don’t get me wrong, I love my UD and my Too Faced palettes, but these shadows are just too good for life).
Also In: Being 9 Years Cancer Free. Hair Cuts. New Lipstick. Seeing Dustin next week. Morphe Eyelashes. Eyebrows on Fleek. Snapchat. Homemade French Fries.
NYC Smooth Skin Parfait BB Cream – Bad news bears. I bought this right before Dustin and I moved from California because I wanted something light on my face for moving. Not only did this have some weird glitter in it (what is up with all the products I try with glitter) but this broke me out so badly the next day. NYC’s bronzers are amazing, but stay away from this stuff!
Rimmel Exaggerate Undecover Shadow Primer – This seriously did nothing. It’s a really weird formula (not clear but not a solid color) and my shadow ended up creasing within a few hours of trying it. I tried it again a few days later with a setting mist and it still creased. Don’t get this. It will not work.
BH Cosemetics Eyebrow Gel – Once again, my glitter saga continues. Why on earth would anyone create a brow gel with glitter in it? I have no idea, but this stuff has it and the color is too light for my brows anyway. No thank you.
Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil – I got this in my Ipsy bag last month and this stuff seriously makes my hair SO greasy (even if I add the tiniest bit to just my ends). I’ve tried it several times and applied it in several different ways and nothing helped. I know Argan oil is really good for your hair, but I’ll pass on it if it makes my hair feel as nasty as this stuff did.
Also Out: Humidity. Breakouts. Split Ends. Gappy Eyebrows. Brothers who eat all the Ice Cream.
