Staying on top of Trends with Jewelry

ICYMI, Dustin and I are going to be moving to Las Vegas at the end of September and I couldn’t be more excited to get back to the Southwest dry air, to be closer to my family and friends and to be in a city that has so many exciting things happening! I know that Las Vegas has a bit of a reputation, but I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading about the city we’re about to call home and there are actually a lot of great business events that happen there! One event that I was super thrilled to learn about, for example, is the nation’s largest jewelry show: JCK Las Vegas!
I have found that the easiest way to get the most wear out of a particular piece in my closet is to simply change the accessories I style it with. The whole tone and vibe of a top or dress can completely change depending on what shoes, bag, and jewelry you pair with it. Wearing a white tee for a day of errands? Pair it with studs and a delicate pendant. Going out for a date later that night? Switch it out with a chunky statement necklace and bright colored clutch! (This also is great for lazy people like me who don’t want to be bothered with changing clothes multiple times a day.)
Another reason why I love jewelry? When I’m feeling uninspired and bored by my closet, but can’t afford to buy new clothes, I pick up a new piece of jewelry instead. And since trends are always changing, it’s sometimes easier to pick up a trendy piece of jewelry to experiment with instead of committing to a piece of clothing.
I loved reading reports about the JCK Las Vegas show because they had over 2,500 exhibiting designers showcasing the latest in jewelry design. You can clearly count on them to be the place where new jewelry trends start and there were definitely some cool trends to come out of the show that I’m excited about!
Geometrics
I really love structured shapes and the geometric trend is something I’m really excited about! I think that the bold shapes, highlighted by cutouts and the use of colorful gemstones can add a whole new dimension to flowy tops or dresses!
I LOVE these Marcia Budget blue geometric earrings from the show; they would pair nicely with a white swing dress for summer time!
Mixed Metals
This is the other trend that came out of the JCK Las Vegas show that I was very excited about! The mixed metals trend is all about combining different colors and textures of metal. This PeJay pendant is one of my favorites from the show that exemplifies this trend: it’s very feminine but the mixed metals elevate it in a totally new way!
I’m really excited to start adding some of these trends into my jewelry collection and even more excited to be living in Las Vegas where this show happens! You can always find out more about the show and the jewelry shown here.
