Let’s talk about makeup for a minute, because ya’ll know how much I love it. I’ve touched upon this before, but makeup is has become one of my favorite things to collect and play with. To me, makeup not only is a fun way to express myself, but by taking the time to put some on is my way of saying: “Hey body, thanks for still being alive. I’m going to treat you extra nice today by dressing you up and appreciating the fact that I’m still kicking.” Let me be clear: I don’t need makeup to feel beautiful and there are plenty of days where I’ll run around with just mascara on. However, I always feel like taking the time to put on my makeup is not only a healthy bit of “me” time, but it helps me feel like I’m putting my best foot forward for the day. It’s a great opportunity to appreciate this second chance at life that I’ve been given and it has helped me become more confident in my skin.
I am so excited that Miranda at Miranda Writes and Jaelan at Making Mrs. M started a weekly link up called the Makeup Mixup. Every week there is a different makeup prompt for everyone to create looks for and I just LOVE being able to experiment and try new things. Plus, it gives me an excuse to buy new stuff to try and I always feel super empowered by putting whatever the heck I want on my face and rocking it in public. This weeks prompt was Wing It Out, so I had fun trying a few looks last week trying to find the perfect one. Also, I decided to try another vlog since I had so much fun making my last one. I know I’m not a pro, but I actually love watching smaller beauty vloggers do their make up because I feel like its more attainable than when I watch Jaclyn Hill (who I still will spend hours watching, because she is so funny!) Without further ado here is my winged eyeliner tutorial:
