On blogging, writing and life with Rosie.
I started blogging in my Freshman year of college. It was a little corner of the internet that belonged to me and transformed as I grew up. It started out as a place for lists, turned into a place for me to vent and eventually a place for me to write. Reading through that blog is like re-living different versions of myself-the tough as nails girl with pink and black hair, the proud cancer survivor with a knee replacement, the girl who fell in love with her best friend and waited for him over two years, the girl who was brave enough to live in China. In some ways, the posts on that blog were juvenile and immature. In other ways, some of my best writing is hidden on those pages. I am grateful for the five years I wrote in that space, for it gives me the ability to relieve my favorite memories and appreciate the growing I was able to do.
When I got married, I left my personal blog and started up on of those married person blogs. I was terrible at it. It was weird for me to transition from my own personal ramblings and blurbs to weekly updates on what I was doing with my life. It was weird to try to write “for” my husband when I knew he really didn’t care about writing himself. So I just didn’t really write much there-couldn’t bring myself to do it.
And then I graduated college with a degree and hit a bit of a mid-life crisis where I didn’t know if that’s really what I wanted to do with my life. I had more time on my hands. And then we welcomed our sweet golden girl, Rosie into our home and she threw me for a loop. Although the first month with her was hard, Rosie gave me motivation to get out of my rut. I started becoming serious about being healthier and losing weight. I started embracing this creative vibe I felt within me. With so much change in the last few months I realized that I was discovering a new version of me. And I felt the pull to write and to document that version more strongly then I had in the last year.
So I put all of my other blogs aside and started fresh. This is Life With Rosie and I plan to document my adventures with my pup and my husband, along with all of the things I’m discovering and changing into. I’m cooking more. I’m creating more. I’m taking more pictures. I’m seeing a difference in my mental and physical health as I embrace these new hobbies, passions and taking care of my golden girl. And I want the opportunity to document it, to look back on it, and to share it.
So. That’s the long and short of it-my history with blogging and why I’m starting fresh. I’m excited to start sharing some of the things I’ve been crafting, some of the things I’ve been cooking and most of all, to share my adventures with my husband and our sweet pup, Rosie Lynn.
