Life Currently V.3 | May 2019
Oh hey there. I know it’s been nothing but radio silence for a while, but I’m alive and well. I’m slowly getting my feet underneath me, getting my life organized and figuring out where I’m going and what I want to accomplish with this space during the summer. I’m so glad things are slowing down enough for me to get back to writing and creating content here. The last few weeks/months have been filled with various forms of chaos and I just didn’t have the time or energy to invest in HTC. Honestly, I had taken on so many fun (but somewhat exhausting) sponsored projects and collaborations in the first quarter of the year that I was absolutely exhausted and burnt out. With everything else going on in my life in April/May, I realized I had to take a break from social media for the most part and to pause the work on HTC so I could reground myself in my life.
So what’s been so chaotic over here? Well, for one thing, we sold our house and bought another and moved about 30 minutes South, from Salt Lake City valley to Utah Valley. I shared our decision process as to why we decided to sell our house and move in my last Life Currently post. When I wrote that, we were two days away from having our house listed on the market. Over the course of 5 days, we had 15 showings and received a full offer on our house at the end of the 5th day. We accepted it while putting an offer in on a home we looked at the week before and by the end of the week, we were under contract for our current house and our new home. We were set to close on both properties in 30 days and spent the next 4 weeks packing, cleaning, organizing, and going through the inspection and appraisal process for both properties. Before we knew it, we were on our way to close on our current house (and even though we hit with an unfortunate snag with the sellers of the house we were buying and were unable to close on our new house on time) everything worked out in the end. We spent Easter weekend in a nice suite at a Residence in and got keys Monday afternoon and began to move into our new house!
Of course, we couldn’t make the unpacking super easy on ourselves. Three days later, we were (attempting) to pack up our Jeep because we were finally heading out on our annual trip to Moab. Although we were so, SO excited to get back to Moab and to take the Jeep for new adventures, it was really exhausting to go from somewhat unpacking in our new house to packing up the Jeep and trying to find all of our camping equipment and tools to go to Moab. However, we did have an amazing trip (more on this coming next week) and Dinah (our Jeep) performed beautifully. We’ve got a list of projects we want to complete on her before the next trip, but we’re already counting down the days until we go back.
We got back from Moab at the end of that week and were immediately thrown into a totally different type of chaos. It isn’t my story to share, but Dustin and I spent the next week and a half helping someone in need while still building furniture, unpacking and organizing our lives (and working our jobs!) Now, three weeks later, things have finally slowed down. We’ve been able to to finish building furniture, we’ve unpacked about 95% of our stuff, and just have minor things to do to finish up moving in (like organize the garage and hang up some pictures.)
So, here we are, at the end of a crazy couple of months. If you were to ask me in January if I was planning on selling my house and moving in 2019, it would have been a big fat no. But I’m so glad we followed our gut, stuck to the process, and made the move. We were able to see amazing gains financially from selling our house and moving when we did and now Dustin and I are both closer to work, five minutes away from my sister, and 30 minutes away from one of our favorite places to take the Jeep out to explore. We love our new space and it already feels like home!
Currently:
On my Calendar – A cruise! Dustin and I are SO excited to be going on a Mexican cruise next month with some of his family. Cruises are one of my favorite ways to travel. I love that we get to see a variety of tropical and warm places and get to eat pizza at all hours of the day! We’re also planning a short camping trip with the dogs and my family next month, and pulling some strings to see my parents in July!
Wearing – This mixed print dress from My Sister’s Closet Boutique (which is the boutique I work for.) Not even kidding- when we saw this dress come in from the warehouse, the whole marketing team freaked out. The mixed print was SO fun and felt so anthropology. I love the different details of the dress: the buttons down the front, the ruffle on the bottom, and the drawstring waist. It’s flattering, it’s bold, and it’s vibrant as all get out. Definitely a dress for summer that will translate beautifully into fall. The price is also fantastic (and you can use my friends/family discount code CHELSIE10 for 10% off!)
Obsessing Over – Citrus Pear. Back at the end of March, my friend Evi & and I went to our first Citrus Pear class in Pleasant Grove and were both SO stoked about the whole experience. Basically, Citrus Pear is a frozen meal class, where you go for two hours and make 20 freezer meals that are crock pot/instapot friendly. Citrus Pear provides all of the tools, recipes, and ingredients, and walks you through making each recipe step-by-step. They even label the freezer bags for you and put the meat in each one so you don’t ever have to touch the raw meet! You just chop the veggies and add the seasonings and seal them up! So far, Dustin and I have had the BBQ Chicken, Chicken Curry, Tex Mex Chicken, Korean Beef, and Orange Ginger Pork Loin and each meal has been absolutely delicious. I LOVE how easy it is to throw a meal into the crockpot or Instapot and have a fully prepared meal within a few hours with little to no effort from me! Citrus Pear has classes in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona and every month, the recipes rotate around, so you have new recipes to try every time!
Listening To – Jonas Brothers. Still. Because I bought a ticket to see them when they come to SLC in October and I’m not even ashamed.
Watching – Friends. Can you believe I’ve never watched Friends until last month? I tried to get into it several times but never understood why it was so good or so funny. Last month, I was at the gym and wanted something new to watch and on a whim, decided to give it another try and was hooked. I don’t know what was wrong with me before, but I absolutely love it now and watch an episode every morning when I’m at the gym!
It’s nice to catch up a little bit. I’ve been working on some new content this week and will be back next week with some regular HTC programing (including a Moab recap and some easy hair tutorials!)
Let me know what you’ve been up to this month in the comments below <3
