December seems to hold the busiest weekends of the month. Between holiday parties, holiday errands, and holiday dates, we are ALWAYS on the go during December weekends. I’m typically a homebody and introvert and prefer to stay home during the weekends, snuggled in with Rosie and Dustbust, but I do not mind staying busy during December because I want to experience the holiday season as fully and vibrantly as possible!
I’m working on a big fatty list of Holiday date ideas for next week (I know, I’m getting it out later than I planned, but that still gives everyone 2 whole weeks to get as much holiday cheer in) but wanted to share this cozy outfit I wore last weekend while exploring a SUPER cute Christmas tree lot with Dustin (complete with reindeer, turkeys, and Santa!) I’m all about being cozy and comfortable during weekend adventures, especially during the winter, but since it’s December, I still want to look festive! I mean, Christmas only comes once a year, right?

I am super cliche and LOVE wearing peacoats during the winter. I don’t think there is anything as warm or classy looking than a peacoat. But, peacoats can be super pricey and in a fit of madness, I sold my 3 peacoats when we moved from Idaho to Arizona, thinking that we weren’t going to live in a state with a real winter for quite some time. Well, that was a silly notion, because here we are, 1.5 years later living in Utah and it is most definitely winter here. Oops. Anyway, I saw this buffalo-checked pea coat at Costco about a month ago and loved it SO much, but didn’t buy it at first because I wasn’t sure if I would wear it a ton since it is a pretty bold color and pattern. But, I kept on thinking about it, and my rule is that if I think about something more than 3 times in a week, it’s meant to be.
So, I went back a couple weeks ago to buy it and surprise, surprise, they only had 7 coats left! And only ONE in my size! So, I promptly swooped it up and then went to grab some samples because I’m ALL about that snack life. And of course, in typical Chelsie fashion, I spilled my coconut chicken curry sample all over myself and the LAST MEDIUM PEACOAT in my arms. It was #badnewsbears all around. Also, I also lost my Costco card in the craziness the ensued, so it was definitely an A+ day at the store. Not. But oh well. Because I still bought the coat, gently washed it when I got home and it was as good as new. Oh and also, it was only $21.00. Oh and also, it is as warm and cozy AH (as heck) and is perfect for December. If you don’t have a Costco nearby or a membership, don’t worry. I found two affordable alternatives (both on sale for under $50.00) that you can check out here and here.
Because we were going to be outside in 30-degree weather, I knew I needed to wear a hat and scarf to help keep my body heat in, so I opted to go totally Christmasy and wear my H&M white infinity scarf that I snagged from thredUP for five bucks and my white CC slouchy beanie from Simple Addiction that I got for under ten! So, I stayed cozy warm and didn’t clash with my red coat!
I did get a little too warm in my peacoat about halfway through our adventure, but I was wearing a really comfy, cute (and neutral) top underneath it, so I didn’t have to worry about carrying my coat around in my arm and clashing patterns or colors. Simple Addiction sent me their “A Little Twist Top” to style and I am totally in love with it. It’s a longer length which means I can wear it with leggings or jeans, and it has the cute little twist detail that makes it more interesting than just a plain long sleeved shirt. Plus, it’s made with a lighter-weight material, so it’s perfect to layer with!
I’m also decided to wear my black distressed jeans from Simple Addiction to give the whole outfit a more relaxed, weekend vibe. I like that these jeans just have some distressing in the knees so it isn’t too over-the-top (or cold) for the winter time!
You might remember Simple Addiction Leggings…
If Simple Addiction sounds familiar to you, it’s because I shared a post a couple months ago about how in love I am with their leggings (and why I wear leggings, despite the great debate on if they are pants or not.)

The Simple Addiction leggings are so soft, so comfortable, and so durable. I’ve put mine through the ringer with plenty of trips to the dog park, short hikes with Rosie, and long road trips and I have yet to get a hole in the crotch! I’m pretty much convinced that they are exact dupes for the pricey LulaRoe leggings and love that they are SO much easier on the wallet. Several of you have already ordered leggings since my last post and told me how soft and comfy they are, so I’m thrilled to hear that I’m not the only one who is crazy obsessed with them. Plus, they have some HECKA adorable winter prints right now and I just ordered these adorable snowflake-printed leggings to wear with my A Little Twist Top!
NOTE – Simple Addiction has two kinds of leggings on their site. I own both kinds, but the Simple Addiction Exclusive leggings are BY FAR the superior pair and worth the little extra!
My friends at Simple Addiction are offering all of my friends here at HTC a 15% off coupon code to be used with ANY order of ANY size at ANY time! And you can even use it multiple times! So, if you are in needs of some cozy leggings (or know someone who might want some for Christmas) I would hustle over to their site and order a pair (or ten) right now! Their leggings are already on sale, so with the coupon code, they will come out to under 9 dollars! GO GO GO!
